By winning a series of excellent contracts John Goodyear has enjoyed a good start to his new life as the owner of the Betterclean Services York franchise. John was formerly Assistant Director for Environment at York City Council, before deciding to take the plunge and step out on his own. “I started training early in October 2012, went out into the market a few weeks later and it’s been very busy ever since.”
“Timing has been on my side. It seems I started my new business at a time when many of the organisations I’ve approached have been looking for new cleaning services providers. The two major contracts I’ve picked up since starting the business last October have been the result of me going out there and knocking on doors.”
John’s area of the country, North Yorkshire, was also severely affected by flooding towards the end of 2012, which resulted in him being able to pick up some lucrative one-off cleaning contracts. “I’ve also been talking to local doctor’s surgeries in my territory, and I’m about to start the first one of those contracts – which is for my local doctors.”
John said he very much appreciates the assistance he has received from Betterclean Services Business Development Manager, who is based at the Betterclean Services head office in Torquay, which helped him to provide quotes to several customers. “Other things have also helped me to win business, such as the Betterclean Services brand reputation, its accreditation, the support structure. Without all of that, well, I probably wouldn’t have been able to get to speak some of the prospective customers I’ve met since I started my business.”
While searching last year, John said Betterclean Services stood out as the best B2B management franchise of all the opportunities he looked into. “Despite the Christmas holidays, when obviously you can’t get to visit prospective clients, at the middle of February I now have four really good ongoing contracts, in addition to the ad-hoc jobs I’ve picked up.
“I believe investing in my Betterclean Services franchise was a very good decision. Dan, Betterclean Services Business Development Manager and the franchise support team have been excellent and it’s great to be part of a network of likeminded franchise owners.”
