Signs Express (Exeter) has played a major role in the re-branding of its local airport with the installation of new front-of-terminal signs.
The Exeter branch of Signs Express, who has had a long association with the airport, was asked to fix the new logo at the main entrance to the terminal and suggested a three dimensional ‘contour-cut’ set of figures, fitted to the external glazed wall of the airport atrium.
Using the colour pallet from the airport’s brand guidelines, Signs Express (Exeter) accurately re-created the new logo of seven brightly coloured silhouetted characters in a variety of poses above the word Exeter in freehand-look lettering. The elements were then brought to the site and fitted to the glazing within two hours.
The project also involved the removal and replacement of the old main airport sign on the first floor of the main terminal building. A large illuminated sign with the new logo had to be installed in its place but access to the fixing point across the terminal roof using scaffolding, would have caused disruption to passenger flow at the front of the terminal. Instead, Signs Express (Exeter) used a hoist with a 20 metre reach, which enabled them to fit and install the signage without delay.
Signs Express (Exeter) centre owner Nick Baxter-Sibley commented: “We were really pleased to have been involved in the airport project and have been equally pleased with the end result. It was vitally important to the client that installation had as little impact on the running of the airport as possible and our team were congratulated for their creativity and efficiency on site.”
The airport’s communications manager, Stephen Ayres, who was responsible for the re-brand said: “The whole project went very smoothly and we have received some very positive feedback from our passengers. The airport has been keen to show that we are in a new era and with the installation of the new signs we are reflecting the vibrancy of the region and emphasising our focus on people.”
