Janet took on board a LighterLife franchise in 2007 and now enjoys helping people live healthier, happier lives whilst making a real difference in her local community.
Janet says, “Every time I see my clients’ success and how they are now full of confidence, I know I'm in the right job”.
“I had always had a strong interest in weight loss and the health industry, mainly through my trials and tribulations with my own weight, so taking on a LighterLife franchise seemed a perfect opportunity”. Janet continues, “I went through the recruitment process, developed a business plan raised the necessary finance and the rest as they say is history.”
Prior to taking on board a LighterLife franchise Janet had been a teacher, helping secondary and college students grasp foreign languages. Although Janet loved her job, her ambition had always been to run her own business.
“The freedom of self-employment really appealed to me. Knowing that I am able to run my own business with the support of an established and professional company behind me, it is probably one of the best decisions I have ever made.” Janet says, “I knew that having been a teacher, a lot of my communication and teaching skills would be transferable and could really aid in helping people understand their eating habits”
Janet knew she wanted to help as many obese people as she could, lose weight in an ethical and responsible way, whilst building a profitable business. After only two years, through her hard work and determination, Janet’s business had grown to such an extent she decided to take on another unit in her local area.
“Market Drayton had already been supplying me with clients, so I knew there was an untapped market there”. She continued, “Business had been going really well and I had managed my finances so that even during these turbulent times I was able to expand my business”
“It is a challenge building up the business from scratch, but LighterLife is a great company to work for, particularly when you are first starting up. Having access to proven systems and procedures initially saved me a great deal of time and allowed me to focus on the business” Janet says, “ It was a lot easier to make the decision to take on more territory knowing the support that I would receive”
Janet’s plans for the future include creating new and innovative ways to grow her franchise, which are also beneficial to local people. She will endeavour to build on her current skills and use her experience to develop and grow her additional territory.
“It has been almost Three years since I invested in a LighterLife franchise and became a Weight-Management Counsellor. I am using all the experience and lessons learnt over this time, whilst undertaking an additional territory. Although it will be hard work, I believe that we will be able to continue to grow the business rapidly. The future holds a new area, new clients, new experiences and a whole new learning curve as I grow my current business and develop and grow my additional territory” Janet continues, “The beauty of being a LighterLife Counsellor is that I get to work with people, which I love, and no two days are ever the same. It is so much more rewarding when you are self employed, both in job satisfaction and financial benefit.”
