A new online shop for the Pauline May clothing range, the UK’s only firm dedicated to the mature fashions sector, has gone live.
The www.paulinemay.com website features all Pauline May ranges for both men and women of all sizes, along with specialist outfits for wheelchair-users and stroke patients, plus footwear and accessories.
All are manufactured in the UK, with 80 per cent of ladieswear made in-house, and come with a 100 per cent money-back guarantee.
Businesswoman Pauline Sargeant, 55, created her company in 1991 in Keighley, West Yorkshire, with a £1,000 start-up bank loan and began by making clothes for the elderly in her garage.
She has now awarded 26 franchises to run mobile shops in England, Scotland and Dublin and plans to open 20 more by autumn and another 75 next year.
As well as the new online shop, Pauline May clothing ranges are also sold to nursing and residential home residents, direct to people’s homes and via an international mail order catalogue business.
Pauline said: “I had for a long time realised that clothes for older people were not as easy to find as readily available younger fashions, and that elderly or infirm people have difficulty in getting to the shops to buy them
“They were the forgotten people and I recognised that there was a whole new market place out there – that we could provide a service that would make a real difference to people’s lives. We’ve come from garage to world market.”
