Top number-cruncher joins Auditel Franchise

Auditel, the UK's leading Cost and Purchase Management Consultancy Franchise has been the career change choice for PricewaterhouseCoopers Chartered Accountant, Mike Jackson.

BriefingWire.com, 1/29/2010 - In April 2009, Edinburgh-based Mike Jackson launched a new career, joining Auditel, the cost and purchase management franchise. Mike’s background is accountancy and taxation. He trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand in Edinburgh. Post- qualification, he moved to Sydney for six years with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He relates: “I wanted the ability to work for myself, but with the security of a proven business model and a network of like-minded colleagues. I chose Franchising as the best option.”
Why I chose Auditel

“I was considering a cost consultancy type of business. The skills, which I have acquired, help me to adopt a professional approach to project management and accurately interpreting financial information, so Auditel were a good match. They were very easy and transparent to deal with and were proactive in answering all the questions I put to them. There was no hard sell and I was able to speak with a number of franchisees.”

The training and support I receive from my franchisor

“I am eight months into my franchise and have found the training courses far exceeded my expectations. Since joining, I have spent around thirty days on training and also attended quarterly regional and local meetings.”

Progress in the marketplace so far

“I found the first six months slow in acquiring clients as I had been away from Edinburgh for some time. Now that I have projects under my belt, I am finding work through referrals. It is rewarding to be approached through word of mouth rather than having to make sales pitches to prospects! I gain tremendous satisfaction from being able to manage my clients’ costs effectively, providing them with peace of mind and the ability for their employees to have more time to concentrate on core business activities.”

My plans for the future

“Being self-employed is very much a lifestyle choice for me. My immediate plan is to build a sufficient client base to be able to adequately service their requirements myself, with the aim of building long-term relationships. Longer term, and once both our children are at school, my wife may be interested in assisting with the business.”

My advice to someone thinking of buying their first franchise

“Ensure you have enough financial support to be able to fund the first 12 to 18 months of the franchise – not just the initial franchise cost. Speak to as many franchisees as possible – not just the ones the franchisor recommends!”
