Business partners and brothers-in-law, Murli Mulchandani and Rikesh Nichani, now have four stores in central London and are previous winners of MBE’s “Franchisees of the Year” award, in recognition of their achievements and success.

The award celebrated KKJ’s business acumen and also recognises the contribution that Murli and Rikesh have made to the overall growth and success of MBE in the UK and Ireland.

Murli and Rikesh opened their first franchise in January 2002 in The Strand, followed a year later with a second outlet in Shepherds Market, Mayfair. In November 2008 they opened a new centre in The Barbican and in late 2009 they added Covent Garden.

Before joining MBE, Murli headed a company that imported and distributed children’s wear and Rikesh worked in the IT industry. They were looking for a business where they could work together and favoured franchising because they liked the concept of working for yourself but with the back-up and support that comes from being part of a big organisation.

They spent a year seeking the right franchise. They visited a franchise exhibition in London to see what was offer and to meet franchisors face-to-face. “There were many different opportunities but none really appealed until we met MBE,” Murli said. “We particularly liked the combination and variety of MBE’s different services and also we struck a real rapport with the people we met. We went to see some centres, in London, Oxford and Bristol and talked to other franchisees,” he continued.

“We were impressed and decided to go for it. We knew that MBE’s services meet a genuine need and since we opened our first centre we have discovered that the demand is escalating, especially for courier services and mailbox rental,” Murli added.
