Domino’s Pizza franchisee, Lisa Tobias, scooped the top award for women in franchising in 2011. Lisa won the Woman Franchisee of the Year 2010 at the first annual Encouraging Women into Franchising (EWIF) Awards at the Awards Ceremony held at the NatWest building in London in March 2011, and was attended by successful business women from across the country and from the wide ranging world of franchising.
Lisa was awarded Woman Franchisee of the Year 2010 for her dedication and determination, which has seen her go from being gymnast and part-time worker at Domino’s to a highly successful, inspirational businesswoman.
The awards and were set up to recognise and reward the contribution the growing contribution and success of women involved in the franchise industry, one of the fastest growing sectors in the UK’s economy, during 2010.
Clive Sawyer, chairman and founder of EWIF and the managing director of Business Options one of the UK’s leading Franchise Consultancies, said: “We were absolutely delighted at the response to these inaugural EWIF Awards both from the number and quality of entries received. It was especially pleasing that we had entries not just from the large very well know franchise brands but also from smaller less known franchises as well. The large turnout for the awards ceremony is a real indication of the level of support EWIF has from the whole franchise industry.”
EWIF was established in 2008 by Clive Sawyer, and is an organisation which seeks to inspire, educate, encourage and support women in franchising and the awards recognise the success of females in the industry.
The organisers were thrilled with the response to this inaugural event and the high calibre of all the entries.
In 2011 there were four awards:

- Amanda Perkins - Musical Minis -Young Woman Franchisee of the Year 2010 (under 30)
- Sophie Brooks - Clive's Easylearn Pop Music Schools - Woman Franchisor of the Year 2010
- Sarah Cook – Coconut Creatives - Woman Franchise Service Provider of the Year 2010
Lisa, aged 30, currently owns five Domino’s Pizza stores in Scotland and employs over 200 members of staff. She is the company’s most successful female franchisee in the UK and Ireland but still finds time for family – she opened her fifth store in Irvine in March 2010 when her daughter Naomi was only six weeks old. Lisa is also a regular speaker at national franchising events and is an ambassador for the ‘Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust’ and for ‘Enterprise Insight’s Girls! Make Your Mark’ scheme.
Lisa says: “I was absolutely thrilled to win this EWIF Award for women in franchising. Franchising is a fantastic opportunity for people to run their own businesses and I would love to see more women taking up the reins and proving what great opportunities there are for female entrepreneurs. I’m really passionate about what I do and with the fantastic teams in each of my stores behind me, I’m very excited about what the future holds.”
