It has been a very busy year for successful music franchise group Rhythm Time who has undertaken a diverse range of fundraising activities for a variety of children’s charities across the organisation during 2010.

From Children in Need and The Children’s Trust to several local charities, Rhythm Time has been raising valuable funds through fun events at their educational music classes for babies and toddlers.

Francis Donkin and Jane Leavy, who both run large and highly successful franchises in Cheshire, held 92 pyjama parties at their classes in October and raised a massive £1572 for The Children’s Trust. “It was a privilege to be involved in such an event, and everyone made such an effort” said Francis who has supported this worthy cause for the past two years. This year, The Children’s Trust is celebrating 25 years of looking after, and caring for, severely disabled and brain damaged children.

Many of the franchises also supported Children in Need this year and undertook a variety of fun events including inviting children from their music classes for babies and toddlers to wear their spottiest clothes. Children even brought their favourite toys dressed in spots to the classes.

Jill Shepherd, who runs her music classes for babies and toddlers Rhythm Time franchise in Central Scotland, has organised a number of Sponsored Singathons to raise money for a local charity, the Yorkhill Children’s Foundation. Based in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde region, the Foundation provides enhanced medical equipment and resources that benefit sick children and babies. “Being able to undertake events like this which have such an impact on the local community is so important” says Jill, “and the fact that we raised so much money across our music classes for babies and toddlers in such a fun way gave participants a great sense of satisfaction.”

Rhythm Time was established 15 years ago by Kathy Doolan who is a firm believer in the power and importance of music for babies, toddlers and pre-school children. Kathy is a graduate of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and set up Rhythm Time after having her own children.

Kathy created a set of unique music courses especially written for different age groups: babies, toddlers and pre-school. Children progress through the different age appropriate classes making a seamless transition at their key developmental stages.

“Music is fundamental to a child’s development” says Kathy “and we feel very privileged to be able to raise valuable funds for children’s charities through our music classes for babies and toddlers.”

Research shows that babies need to have all their senses stimulated. Rhythm Time’s music classes for babies aim to stimulate vision, listening and sense of touch by using songs, percussion instruments and a wide range of sensory activities with specially chosen music for babies.

At Around 15 months, music classes for toddlers offer a completely new set of courses created to help a child’s confidence, creativity and co-ordination.

Toddlers learn to listen and improve their concentration with the help of Rhythm Time’s puppet Rat-a-tat. Hand eye co-ordination and motor skills are strengthened by using a wide variety of instruments.

From three years, music classes for pre-school provide an ideal preparation for going to school. Music notation is introduced to the children and they learn to recognise a variety of musical signs. They listen to brass, woodwind and string instruments and learn to conduct the class band!

Rhythm Time is a family owned business and continues to grow from strength to strength. If you would like to find out more about Rhythm Time and its franchise opportunities to run music classes for babies and toddlers, fill up this form.
