Signs Express gives Cambridge Council’s customer service centre a signage makeover.

Having worked for other departments in Cambridge City Council’s remit, Signs Express (Cambridge & Huntingdon) was invited to tender for the work against a number of signage companies in the area. Having provided the most competitive price, the team set to work on the ongoing project which began back in March 2008 - the bulk was completed shortly after with additional signage added throughout the year.

The council had completely refurbished its customer service centre (Mandela House) in the heart of the city using in-house architects and external contractors for the renovations. It was then just a case of the Signs Express team converting the architects’ ideas into a signage reality. With such a broad range of product requirements the centre set to work producing internal directory and decorative signs, main external signs, door and reception signs, frosted window graphics as well as safety window film, poster hanging displays and literature stands.

Business development manager, Nick Dowell commented on the project: “We have dealt with different council departments over the years, mainly in arts and entertainment, so it was great to branch out and become involved in another area. The council wanted to modernise the building by creating a brand new customer service centre so set to work on refurbishing inside and out. The architects working on the project provided us with guide drawings detailing what they wanted from their signage and we then interpreted the illustrations into producible signage to match the budget.”
Nova Roberts, head of customer services for Cambridge City Council said: "Our new customer service centre is a key part of our plan to improve the quality of our customer services. We commissioned Signs Express to provide a number of internal and external signage solutions which were produced to a high standard, on time and on budget. We really appreciated the flexibility of the Signs Express team and their professional approach to the project."

As part of the UK and Ireland’s leading signs and graphics company, Signs Express (Cambridge & Huntingdon) provides a complete design, manufacture and installation service for all forms of signage including interior/exterior signs, vehicle graphics, exhibition and display products, window graphics and health and safety signage for businesses in Cambridge and the surrounding areas.
