Gee Bains of Driver Hire South East London is part of a nationwide network of almost 100 offices providing recruitment services to the logistics sector. Starting from a clean sheet in May 2010 when he bought his franchise, Gee is on track for annual sales in excess of £800,000 – more than twice the £353,000 average turnover for a franchise in the UK. A rising star at Driver Hire, he was recently named the Driver Hire New Start of the Year.
Gee’s background working in IT for a leading City law firm hid an entrepreneurial spirit, but once he had decided to become self-employed there was no turning back. He explains: “I’d spent some time considering several options when a good friend of mine, Manjit Singh, who runs Driver Hire Enfield, recommended the business to me. He explained how valuable being part of a strong franchise had been to him, especially through the recession.”
“It’s actually quite a simple business”, says Gee. “Recruitment is just bringing people together and we now also have a thriving additional revenue stream in driver training.
