A former police officer who now runs his own business has sponsored an award at the Staffordshire Rural Policing Liaison Group (RPLG) Countryside Awards.

Keith Walker, owner of Recognition Express North Staffordshire, sponsored the young persons award which went to a volunteer on the Trentham Estate.

Keith spent 30 years in the Staffordshire police force, where he worked closely with the Rural Policing Liaison Group, before setting up Recognition Express North Staffordshire – the UK market leader in promotional products and branded clothing.

Rural crime is crime against wildlife, habitation and people who live and work in the countryside. The Rural Policing Liaison Group is concerned about any crimes against wildlife or against any animals.

Award winner Jack Ward works as a volunteer at the Trentham Estate, helping manage the deer population.

Said Faye Burton, organiser of the RPLG: “We are very grateful to Recognition Express for sponsoring the award and feel fortunate that we work with supporters like Keith. We aim to highlight the good work that our young people are carrying out in Staffordshire and through doing so raise the awareness of the wildlife on our doorstep.

Commenting on the sponsorship Keith Walker said: “Even though I now work in business at Recognition Express North Staffordshire, I still like to give something back to the community, especially on policing issues. Jack was a worthy winner of this award.”
