People no longer have the time nor the skills to tackle even the simplest of hems, let alone risk damaging a favourite or expensive garment.

At The Zip Yard we have taken a different approach to the garments alteration business.

Our highly visible, strong, bold branding separates us from our competitors and helps us to dominate in the high street.

All our centres are finished to the highest of standards and include ‘state of the art’ machinery, computer systems and in most cases our seamstresses work in full view of the public so customers can see for themselves the high standards of workmanship.

The Zip Yard Centres are finished to a distinctive specification.

Experience to date suggest that a unit of approximately 750sq ft costs in the region of £20,000* fit out, which will include

• 2 Industrial sewing machines
• 1 blind hemmer
• 1 over locker
• 1 button holer
• 1 ironing station
• 1 computer
• Bespoke till and software package
• Shop Fit out; External and internal signage/Fitting Room/Counters/Flooring/Fixtures and Fittings
• Opening starting stock
• Corporate Branding

* the exact cost will be determined by the size and standard of the premises.

Your investment presents you with a fully operational and fully supported business, with trained staff and comprehensive marketing activity from day one!

It is you who make the major decisions in your business, but you are not on your own because we are always on hand with help and advice, marketing support, on-going training, product development and much more.

The business is owned and operated by a very experienced franchise team who also run Recognition Express (30+ years in business and bfa Franchise of the Year winners) and ComputerXplorers (world’s largest education franchise).

All Franchise Owners have a two week comprehensive induction programme covering business practices, computer systems, running a centre, marketing and promotions, recruitment, counter sales etc.

Training is part classroom based (at Head Office) and part in-Centre – for true hands-on experience.

We would expect a new Franchise Owner to at least meet – if not surpass – our benchmark of £100,000 turnover in their first year.

We are looking for prospective Franchise Owners who will be as dedicated, passionate, focused and hard working as we are.

You do not need to be familiar with repairs or alternations and we’re not looking for tailors or tailoresses.

Successful Franchise Owners will be ambitious to run their own business, customer driven, well organised and keen to follow a proven business system.

Training and Project Management will cost £5,000 and includes two weeks on-site training; assistance in staff recruitment; management of shop fit and training reviews.

With bank funding of at least £25,000 available your own investment for the business would be £15,000 or less.

You are partnering with a successful company with a proven business model in a growing sector. You will enjoy being your own boss yet you will have all the support of The Zip Yard Management Team.

You do not need to have a background in the garment alterations industry as full training will be provided. Furthermore, we will assist with finding the right premises in the best location, and recruiting and training staff.
