The etyres Opportunity

We have established a tried-and tested formula which our Franchise Owners have used as a springboard to success since we launched our company in 1999.

We were the UK’s first online tyre retailer and our experience and investment have helped us secure and maintain our dominant position.

And with more than 34 million cars on the UK roads - all of which will need new tyres - etyres has proved to be recession-proof.  Even when money is tight, tyres are a necessity, not a luxury.

A van-based etyres franchise is proving a tremendous success with husband-and-wife and father-and-son partnerships.  It also offers a sound investment for former military personnel and parents who want to secure a solid financial future for their grown-up children by setting them  up in business.

All our Franchise Owners enjoy the advantage of building their business in an exclusive territory with the benefit of a trusted name in the tyre industry to trade under.

In 2011 our efforts were recognised when we won the prestigious British Franchise Association/HSBC Franchisor of the Year Bronze Award.

About etyres

etyres was the UK's first online tyres company. It launched in 1999 and for more than a decade it has transformed and led the way that tyres are sold and fitted across the country.

We have put down deep roots in the internet tyres industry and this has enabled us to grow stronger and faster than our rivals.

An independent report * into the tyres industry said of etyres: "sales growth and profit margins are better than the industry's largest player".

We initially began operating as Fleet Mobile Tyres in 1992, concentrating on tyres for the fleet and lease car market. The first Franchise Owners joined in 1996 and they are still trading successfully. Others soon followed and are also still operating profitably.

Soon after that the Internet started to rapidly change the business landscape and we recognised the potential to sell to the public through this exciting new market place.

With our combination of online ordering, mobile tyre fitting and low overheads, we make massive operational savings compared to the traditional high street depots and we pass them on to our customers in the form of lower prices - up to 40% cheaper than the big name fast fit chains.

Everything, from our use of familiar faces, like Eamonn Holmes and Vicki Butler-Henderson, in our videos, to our tyre price comparison chart, is aimed at showing the customer they are in the hands of experts.

Our website set the standard and system for selling tyres on the internet which is now used by everyone and we were the first to feature a regular price check section.

We were also the first online tyres company to feature video on its website and use carefully selected celebrity endorsements to drive our message home.

We offer a complete package, from online ordering (but with a call centre for customers who need to speak to member of the team) to a mobile fitting service provided by teams across the country who are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and conform to the highest safety standards.

Even the global recession had a positive impact on our business and sales soared as consumers went online to find cheaper deals for essentials like tyres.

Training and support

New Franchise Owners take part in our comprehensive training programme covering all aspects of the business from fitting tyres to managing their own website page.

Training takes place at Head Office, where the focus is on computer systems, accounts, marketing and administration.

The on-the-road training is gained by working alongside an experienced etyres team run by two of our most successful Franchise Owners.  Business partners Alex and Oliver, who also head up our Operations Team, own a multi van operation with an annual turnover of over £1million.

Their years of experience ensure all our new Franchise Owners learn how to operate efficiently and effectively from their first day of trading.

By the end of your basic training you will be able to competently operate your business but that is only part of the process. Over the following months we will work with you to make your branch really excel. It is our job to assist you in achieving your objective of becoming a successful franchise business owner.

FRANCHISE PACKAGE

The franchise package includes an exclusive territory, extensive training and on-going support from Head Office.

Head Office also handles marketing and brand management. We have staff dedicated to creating daily new content for our website and promoting the etyres brand across social media websites, including Facebook and Twitter, to generate orders.

etyres is also continuing to invest heavily in new technology with a team responsible for handling IT and new internet initiatives, including managing a Cloud based system which improves operating efficiency for Franchise Owners.

Start-up costs are £35,000 and the banks have a history of looking favourably on the etyres business model, even during recessionary times. Some recent Franchise Owners have secured 100 per cent loans from banks to pay the franchise fee.

WHO'S IDEAL FOR US

Our ideal Franchise Owner is someone who has good communications skills, is prepared to work hard and is extremely customer focused. A practical background and experience within the motor trade would be beneficial, however, it is not essential as full training is provided.

Having a partner who can help is also a big advantage. etyres first Franchise Owners, Pam and Stuart Cass, still based in Portsmouth, are perfect role models for the ideal set-up. Pam has very good office stills and has been able to assist Stuart in building up the business and this is a formula that is working equally well for many of our other Franchise Owners.

TERRITORIES AND LOCATIONS

We have key areas still available across the UK.

SUCCESS STORIES

Tamworth

Husband and wife team Andi and Dave Andrew are driving their etyres franchise forward at an impressive speed.

Within eight months of taking on the Tamworth territory, they had their second van on the road. And after just 18 months with the UK's leading online tyre company they have their ultimate goal in their sights.

"Our goal is to have three or four employees, including an administrator," explained Dave, who turned his back on a career as an IT manager to join etyres because he wanted to "get out of the rat race" and to be his own boss.

"This is still well within our sights and if we continue to grow our sales we will take on another fitter and van by the end of the year."

"We offer an excellent personal service, with low prices and mobile fitting, so we retain all our customers. Now we are concentrating on promoting the brand so we can saturate our area as heavily as possible."

"We are also enjoying growing the business together and work well as a team. We have agreed roles - Andi looks after the admin and accounts, plus she liaises with the customers and head office. She usually does the orders (she's very good at knowing which supplier has the best price for specific tyres). She also plans the routes and makes the early morning call to the customers letting them know what time to expect us."

"I handle the marketing and help with the fitting."

"We know we retain our customers and get a lot of recommendations, now we are focusing on front-loading to increase our business."

Middlesbrough

Redundancy is setting the wheels of a fantastic business opportunity in motion for new etyres franchise owners.

Chris Dunn is a perfect example. He was made redundant after 25 years working in the British steel industry and decided to invest in the leading online mobile tyre fitting firm.

"Starting a new business was a bit daunting after spending so many years working in one place, especially as I was investing my redundancy money", Chris said, "but I have no regrets at all and it is proving to be a very good decision."

Working at Corus, Chris knew that redundancy was looming, but he said: "In a way it was a good thing, because I had about a year to spend looking for the ideal van-based franchise."

"It was the internet side of etyres that really pursuaded me to join, it was a deal clincher because it was ahead of so many other companies I considered."

"I'm a typical example of someone who now shops for most big things on the internet, because you can do your research and get the best deals. It is becoming second nature to everyone, even the older generation and we are at the forefront of it."

Chris was fortunate enough to receive support and financial backing from the UK Steel Enterprise.

Regional executive Nick Johnson said: "Joining a franchise can alleviate some of the pressure of starting a new business as you have an established organisation behind you."

"I'm delighted to see Chris's business has grown so quickly."

Guildford

When Steve Clark joined etyres he wanted to a secure a better future for his family.

Within three months of opening the Guildford branch he was already hitting his year two target and looking to take on an extra van and employ a fitter.

After 18 months he had grown his business even further to incorporate a second territory and a third van.

Steve, who turned his back on the world of printing, said: "I chose etyres because people are always going to need tyres and I could see this was a company that was doing well even during the recession."

"I definitely made the right decision. We are working flat out at the moment because there is so much work out there."

"I am really enjoying building the business up and it is a big help to have the support of the head office team."
