After providing lawn care since 1974 and serving three million residential and commercial customers (USA) we thought the time was right to bring TruGreen to the UK. We launched a successful pilot in 2003 and sold the first franchises in 2004. Our franchise opportunity allows enterprising individuals to enter the profitable and growing commercial & domestic lawn care market and provide specialist services on the highest of levels. Training and Support
The TruGreen franchise caters primarily for residential customers, although unlike our competitor franchise companies expansion to service commercial businesses is part of our longer-range plan. As a franchisee of TruGreen you offer a full range of services aimed at improving poor lawns and then maintaining them in first class condition. As a fully trained lawn specialist, you will be in a position to diagnose and remedy a host of lawn ailments and deal with.
• Liquid and Granular fertilizer application.
• Moss control and eradication
• Mechanical operations such as Aeration and scarification.
• Turfing seeding, renovation and top dressing.
• Weed control
• Pest, disease and insect control.
• Consultancy and advice.
The service extends from providing professional advice, to complete renovation programmes. At the heart of the service success is the need for a very high volume of repeat businesses throughout the following months and future years. The materials we use are only available to professional green keepers and turf maintenance specialists and cannot be bought in shops, garden centres or DIY stores.
The granular fertiliser that is used is specially designed to release its nutrients in a time-controlled way over a 2-3 month period according to the soil temperature and moisture levels. You will learn to use the correct balance of nutrients and trace elements for the time of year that the treatment occurs.
Financial Information
The two elements of investment in the Franchise are:
The Franchise License, which includes a comprehensive training programme involving pre-study, two weeks residential on-site, training with accreditation and business launch assistance including a planned marketing campaign. A protected territory will be yours to grow a substantial business - £7,500
The Full Equipment Package, which includes software, aerator, scarifier and all equipment and materials needed to operate the service from tools and products to uniforms, sign writing your vehicle as well as stationery, business cards, a full marketing pack and materials and a deposit on the lease purchase van - £12,350
Are you for us?
Could you be our next Franchisee?You will need to be motivated and committed to running a dynamic business. Most of our franchisees tend to be from a supervisory or management background and are looking to “build a business” not “buy a job”.
Potential franchisees often are from a background where they either have been in a similar trade or have a love of lawns. They are often golfers or cricketers who have always been interested in beautiful lawns.
You need to be fairly fit, as there tends to be a lot of walking involved.
The franchise can be started from home, using a home office and garage for storage, but we would expect franchisees to move into a unit as the business expands and takes on more staff.
Your Role as a Franchisee:
• Determine the lawn's overall health.
• Age of the lawn, type of mower, mowing height, past feeding programme.
• List the different grasses and soil types in your lawn and their condition.
• Identify weeds, insects and/or diseases that appear to be affecting the lawn and recommend ways to control them.
• Determine moss infestation, surface thatch, soil structure and compaction.
• Recommend aeration & scarification as required.
• Advise you of proper mowing and watering techniques.
• Evaluate the potential of the lawn and recommend how TruGreen could help the lawn be the greenest, thickest, healthiest it can be.
