Advice wanted about franchising Auction site

Posted by Allbidder in Ask The Experts on 05.02.2009 1:04:28 pm | 1078 views

Hi Guys,

is there such a thing as a LEASE franchise?

I have an Auction website www.allbidders.com  and I'm thinkig of leasing out a couple

of my sites.

I need some advice on how to structure the business

Also I don't know what percentage to charge

This is a fairly new business and there is no revenue coming in as yet

So I'm willing to lease out my site for a percentage of the eventual turnover.

There is no ingoing expenses. but I would expect my leasee to build up the business

with advertising and marketing.

Any Advice would be appreciated

Cheers,    Allbidder

Look for a moment at the exact format of what you are proposing.

Franchising is expansion through duplicating what you are already doing, but in a new region or geographical area.

Is this a .ie (ireland), a .dk (or any other country) version of your site?

If so then it may be a franchise. In terms of leasing, franchises are essentially the rights to use your business model - for a specific period of time. All franchises are renewed after a period. Does this aspect of franchising fit your "Lease" requirements.

In terms of cost you've got to be realistic, at what point would your charges outweigh the benefit of someone going it alone and building their own version of the site?

Spend some time thinking on these things, and you'll realise you probably already know the answers yourself.
