It's fairly typical really. Google release an excellent new update in the form of Google Instant Search and immediately a bunch of companies decide to turn the negativity engine into overdrive.
One Panda Anti Virus Company seem to believe that
the new Instant Search will be a tool for blackhat spammers,
and they quote an example of typing "Anti" into Google and the
new Instant coming up with Antivir Solution Pro which is a
well known ant virus scam. However if you type "Anti" into
Google without Instant search you get the same result, so what
is the difference? There is none, this is simply a scare
story for Panda to release and get picked up by websites such
as The
Register to republish. This in turn drives traffic to
Pandas website and hopefully increase sales. Is there basis
to their story though? No, of course not... It's media
tactics to try and gain your attention by trashing a product
and drumming up scare stories.
It is Googles job to bring us the most relevant search results, Panda seems to think they should somehow modify the search results and be selective about what they display... Can you even begin to image the outcry if Google started doing that? It would be mayhem. Google would be turning into Apple and Steve Jobs and creating a baby edition on their search service and they are not about to do that.
